2008

This year, 2008, begins with commissions. Two Giverny based works are going to Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Hospital in the Houston medical center this month as I begin a very large work which will go into the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center’s new building the Pickens Academic Tower. This work will be three 6’ x 5’ pieces hanging together to create a large triptych for the Lobby. It will be based on my Moment At the Pond Series.

About my grandchildren, Nina in Portland, Oregon and Caleb and Lily here in Houston: Lily was born in April of 2007 so she and her brother both have birthdays in April. Caleb will turn 3. Nina had a major celebration in her home in December for her 3rd. birthday. What a blast. It was so much fun seeing her hug and love her friends as they played for hours in her play room. I don’t think I have ever seen such an exciting birthday party. Parents were included on the sidelines. Two weeks later we all got together for Christmas here in Houston. Nina and I had lots of tea parties!

This will be a year of preparation for shows upcoming in 2009. I hope to get in some travel and painting plein air as well.
