2010

On April 2nd. My show opened at ML Gallery in Charleston.
On May 1st Mary Martin left this lovely space (Eva Carters former gallery) and I moved my work to the Broadhurst Gallery in Pinehurst North Carolina. I visited the gallery and stayed at the Umstead Hotel where the art collection is unbelievable, from Chihuly to Earthrowl and much more.
The dogwoods were in bloom and buds everywhere. North Carolina is beautiful. The Broadhurst Gallery in Pinehurst is unique and fits into the spacious estate of Judy Broadhurst and her husband. I am so glad that I made that trip and delivered new work to her.
On my return to Houston/Kingwood the Azaleas were in bloom and made me gasp when I got home, hence my new painting “Azalea Blast”. I had such fun doing something new with such an emotional thrust. The hard freeze of our winter caused the blooms to be unusually intense this year.
Since then I have done several commissions the last which, Giverny 9 C, is going to be installed in the new building for Texas State Round Rock School of Nursing north of Austin.

Artist’s Statement
I am an expressionist and sensuous colorist.
I abstract nature, and paint my sensory experience......
the essence, depth, energy, spirit, rhythm and movement of color and light.
Painting, for me, is highly energized, a focused improvisation;
a spontaneous and active experiment in color, texture, and expression. It is intense, rigorous, and a daily process.
